Data Network ManagementWelcome to the home page of Data Network Management. Data Network Management is responsible for the campus backbone network, as well as the networks of many departments and auxiliaries. We consult, design, install and manage computer networks on all USF campuses and off-campus locations. 802.11n in the Library (2008-07-02)The first floor of the Tampa library joins CWY Hall in spearheading the latest in wireless technology and now offers 802.11n coverage. Currently speeds of up to 100 megabits / second are available, and soon we will add support for 300 megabits / second in the 5 GHz spectrum. NAT and XBox (2008-01-02)The XBox (360) has trouble operating through NAT, and this can affect users in the residence halls. If you run into this issue, please visit our new 802.11n (2007-12-19)The University of South Florida Data Network Management group is proud to introduce the first 802.11n compatible wireless access points for the use of students, faculty and staff. The initial deployment will serve the two first floor classrooms in the C. W. Young building, and of course 802.11b/g and 802.11a continue to be supported as well. 802.11n offers significantly higher speeds, up to 300 Mbps, better range and better support for multimedia applications. FTP Server Upgrades (2007-09-05)Data Network Management has upgraded its local repository for various Linux distributions (CentOS, a free RedHat Enterprise derivative; Ubuntu; cAos and Fedora) and updates, providing convenient and fast service to the USF community. It also has a copy of FreeDOS for making boot floppies and legacy software and systems as well as a copy of the Monash archive of software for students of the Japanese language. See ftp.usf.edu for more details! Network Address Translation (NAT) at USF (2007-09-05)Due to increasingly tight Internet address space at USF, Data Network Management is beginning to utilize Network Address Translation in select parts of USF’s data network. Please see the USF NAT Info Page for more details. Network Related Resources
